Zolo
Coliving operator based in Bangalore, India, operating across Asia-Pacific.
About Zolo
Zolo, also known as Zolostays, is one of India's largest coliving and managed rental operators. It was founded in Bengaluru in 2015 by Nikhil Sikri, Sneha Choudhry and Akhil Sikri, and its corporate office is in HSR Layout, Bengaluru. Zolo offers paying guest style rooms, hostels and coliving homes for men, women and mixed groups, with shared or private rooms, optional meal plans and app based booking and service requests. The company does not usually own the buildings it runs. It partners with property owners and developers through revenue sharing and leasing arrangements, takes over furnishing and operations, and fills the rooms through its own platform. That hybrid approach let it scale quickly across Indian cities. A January 2025 profile put the business at roughly 50,000 beds in more than 300 properties across 13 cities. Its own website, as of November 2026, lists Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Pune, Hyderabad, Noida, Delhi, Mumbai and Gurugram, describes a presence in 10 plus cities and cites more than 50,000 customers. Zolo has raised about 90 million US dollars, including a 56 million US dollar Series C led by Investcorp and Nexus Venture Partners, with Mirae Asset and Trifecta Capital also investing. In 2025 it was reported to be in talks to raise around 100 million US dollars in a Series D mixing equity and debt, to fund new cities, coliving and student housing acquisitions and possible expansion into Southeast Asia and the Middle East. A debt deal with Venturesoul Partners was recorded in November 2025, amount undisclosed. The company has also said it wants to add family housing and fully managed homes to lengthen resident tenure, which it put at about three to three and a half years on average. Typical residents are students, graduates and young professionals moving to large Indian cities for study or work. Stays range from a few nights to several months. Status: active as of November 2026 across Indian metros. Bed counts come from 2025 reporting and should be treated as approximate.
How the hybrid model works
A hybrid operator mixes models across its portfolio, for example owning some buildings while master-leasing or managing others. This spreads risk and lets the operator move faster in new markets while still building an owned core over time.
