About Tribe
Tribe, trading as Tribe Stays, is an Indian long stay living brand based in Pune. It was founded in 2018 by Yogesh Mehra, Shantam Mehra and Aman Mehra, and it positions itself as a premium, fully furnished alternative to traditional paying guest housing and hostels. The business runs three managed accommodation sub-brands. Tribe Student Accommodation offers purpose built, well located rooms for students. Tribe Commune is the coliving line, aimed at working professionals who want a furnished room, services and a social setting. Tribe Suites provides managed executive suites for corporates, expats and visiting professionals. Across all three, stays run up to one year, and rooms are sold move in ready with furniture and services included, so residents do not need to set up utilities or buy furniture. Scale is still modest. When it announced its seed round in November 2025, the company said it operated about 650 beds, all in Pune. That round raised 2.8 million US dollars (about INR 24.8 crore), co led by Artha Venture Fund and Riverwalk Holdings, with participation from Vivaldis founder Kunal Khanna and other family offices. Tribe said it would use the money to grow all three sub-brands, add around 1,000 beds in the current financial year and work toward a long term target of 25,000 beds across Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Gurugram. Those are plans, not operating figures, and earlier expansion targets the company published in 2019 were not met on schedule. For residents, Tribe sits in the fast growing Indian managed rental segment alongside larger players such as Colive, Zolo and Stanza Living. Its point of difference is a single brand that covers students, young professionals and corporate guests in the same city, which lets it fill rooms from several demand pools. Status: active as of November 2026, operating in Pune. Note that this profile covers the Indian operator at tribestays.com; it is not connected to UK coliving brands with similar names.
How the management model works
Under a management agreement, the operator runs the building for the owner in exchange for a fee, often with a performance element. The owner keeps the property risk and upside, while the operator provides the brand, systems and community without taking the lease onto its own books.
